Building in today's market requires a builder you can trust. It's a tough market out there and lots of competition in the building industry. About 5 years ago I was a contractor and had built several homes myself and for myself. Today is the ideal market for buyers to build a new home. Low interest rates, reduced lot prices, and lower construction costs make this a unique opportunity. One idea that my partner and I had to move lots is to advertise them as "to be builts" and work with a reputable builder. We have a builder that finds a home plan that will fit on our lots, meets the building and zoning requirements, and is priced to sell. We have found this to be very successful! It gives the buyers a vision and makes it so they can see this house (not lot) their new home to be. We price it as if it were a first time home or a home to retire in to get it sold! Hope others look into doing this if interested in moving some of their lots.
